The Five Thunders represents an evolution in the MIM sound, building on the fundamental-core that we know and love; that of live dubstep & bass music. To this core the boys bring us a deeper electro vibe, 80's synth-pop, vocal performance, and grooves to die for. The Five Thunders shows us the future of live electronic music.
Men Imitating Machines (Australia) take live drums and bass and turn them on their ear. Jarman Donohue (Medical tech by day and jedi bass guitar wobbler by night) has come together with Matty O'Brien (scientist and jazz trained drummer) to produce a 100% live set built with the foundations of dubstep, glitch-hop and junglistic rhythms.
The boys use a MIDI bass guitar and MIDI drums to control two laptops, allowing them to shape a sound free of pre-programming and done totally on the fly. This coupled with a custom light and projection show (by Tommy Gunn), wild stage antics, crowd heckling and a dislike of shoes makes them a unique high energy act.
